At the Board of Education meeting on Monday, April 22, 2019, the Millburn Board of Education appointed Kathryn (Kate) Diskin as Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction for the Millburn Schools effective July 1, 2019. Ms. Diskin succeeds Kyle Arlington who left for a position in another district in March.
Ms. Diskin is currently Assistant Superintendent in the Middlesex School district. She has been a teacher (in Millburn from 1993-97), Technology Coordinator and Director of Curriculum & Instruction, and Principal, prior to taking on the role of Assistant Superintendent for the last four years in Middlesex
“Ms. Diskin brings 28 years of experience to our district, from the classroom, to leading a building and at the central office,” said Dr. Christine Burton, Superintendent of Millburn Township Public Schools. “As Assistant Superintendent in Middlesex, she has managed curriculum work, professional development, federal grants, community engagement and change management efforts. As a life-long learner, she is currently working on her doctorate, modeling her commitment to continuous learning. We are very pleased to have such a dedicated and experienced professional step into the role of Assistant Superintendent.”
Ms. Diskin expressed her enthusiasm at returning to the Millburn Public Schools. “I look forward to working together to continue enhance the curriculum and instruction work currently underway.”
Prior to becoming Assistant Superintendent in Middlesex in 2016, Ms. Diskin also served as Director of Curriculum and Instruction and Principal at Watchung Elementary School. She was Assistant Principal in Montclair New Jersey, a 5th Grade teacher in Millburn and a Middle School teacher in Mountainside Public Schools.
